EMB Language Competences
English language competence requirements for EMB:
EMB is taught 100% in English. All exams in the core curriculum required for your degree are in English starting with the first semester. Consequently, admission requires you to prove sound English language competence from the beginning (cp. admission requirements).
German language comptence development in EMB:
EMB students are required to learn German during their studies up to level B2, so that you may easily start working in any German speaking company or continue studying for a Master's Degree at German universities.
Towards this end, you must prove German language competence at level A2 by the end of foundation studies, i.e., to formally complete semesters 1+2.
Furthermore, you are required to prove German language comptence at level B1 by the end of the internship term (cp. semester 5) and German language competence at level B2 before being elligible to receive your degree certificate after semester 7.
Studying German as well as other languages, including English, is supported by our TH Mannheim Language Center during as well as in between semesters throughout your studies.
We have integrated 4 elective modules, International Competences 1 - 4, see below, which you may use to improve your language skills as required for German and beyond in any language of your choice if you like.

You can choose any course, that you have not passed yet, which is offered according to the list ‘International Competences 1 - 4’ above. It is updated by the faculty latest one week before lectures commence each semester. This section includes all language courses offered by the Language Center of TH Mannheim, including in particular German and English language courses.

You can choose any course, that you have not passed yet, which is offered according to the list ‘Electives 1 & 2' published by the faculty latest one week before lectures commence each semester.
