Communicating across borders as an all-rounder
Are you looking for a degree course that will allow you to take on different tasks in various sectors? Are you interested in both engineering and economic issues? Do you enjoy working with people and can make yourself understood in English?
Then this is precisely the right degree programme for you. With a practical focus and in small groups you learn the basic patterns of thinking, methods and concepts in business administration and engineering.
At the same time, you also expand your intercultural skills and language skills. You thus build up a broad basis for working across borders with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
Professions
The advantage of industrial engineers is their broad training. That’s why they are primarily employed in areas where business and engineering knowledge is necessary, and also why industrial engineers have been much sought-after on the labour market for many years. Typical areas of work include:
- purchasing – identifying and managing suppliers for complex components,
- logistics – shaping and managing global supply chains between production locations and between manufacturers and customers,
- financial controlling – for calculating the cost effectiveness of investments in machinery and facilities,
- sales – marketing high-tech products and services.
Course objectives
This degree programme differs to classical industrial engineering courses due to the:
- teaching of international management skills,
- developing and expanding of language skills (course language is English from fifth semester onwards),
- period abroad (as theoretical or internship semester).
In semesters 1 - 4 you improve your English language skills; while classes are mainly in German.
English is in constant use in semesters 5 to 8 and you also gain basic knowledge or improve an additional foreign language.
In this way, you gradually grow into the challenges of the degree course and gain a broad qualification for working in an international environment.

Options
The broad training in the bachelor’s degree programme offers you the option of specialising in a focal area if you continue with a master’s degree programme, or applying your engineering or business knowledge in a company.
